Marama Davidson, according to Trevor Mallard who is hardly a reliable source, has managed to skirt around calling Nicola Willis a racist in Parliament which would have had her ejected from Parliament.
Despite being applauded by a large section of Labour MPs for this slur, I think Marama, as always, is wrong. Why? To add some background, I have little doubt that Marama Davidson is a racist as she's constantly ragging Pākehā (except hubby of course, but even he gets ragged on occasion). But here she's jumped to the conclusion that those in emergency housing are all Māori. For sure a lot of them will be, and for sure gangs, in the North Island anyway, are predominately Māori (maybe with the exception of the Filthy Few) but to assume all of those in emergency accommodation are Māori is a racist assumption. To assume that they're all gang members is also a racist assumption. Even if all of them were is it racist for Nicola Willis to notice the increase in gang presence in the Wellington CBD. No it's not. If that is the case, the problems are elsewhere. And are gang members really in emergency accommodation, Marama?
It's all very much not conducive to the political parties working together either. The National Party itself is not without its Māori MPs and I suspect that one of them, Simon Bridges, might have something further to add to this 'debate'. I certainly hope that he does as this sort of rhetoric needs to be ejected from Parliament.
As an aside I had heard that there was an increase in violence in Courtney Place. I certainly up until this episode had not considered that there might be a racial character to this violence. And I still don't despite Marama's attempts to make it so.
Finally I don't think that it does any good to allow criminal gangs, who are likely doing very well financially thanks very much (I doubt they need emergency accommodation), a free pass because 'racism'. But if you want South American drug runners or Italian Mafia to run free in New Zealand/Aotearoa then support Marama in her latest attack on 'privilege' as these gangs definitely have those connections, encouraged in the last decade or so by Australia exporting gang members involved in the sort of trades that the South Americans & Italians mentioned above specialize in.
Whoever that reporter was who later asked Marama Davidson what she had achieved in her portfolios over the last 4 years deserves a medal. It was gold. The answer of course is nothing*.
This Green Party is an absolute clusterf&^k. And Labour MPs playing the 'I'm a small l liberal' card, please grow up for New Zealand's sake.
* Later found it to be Jenna Lynch. Jenna you're a star. It's towards the end of this report. LOL. "Are you actually doing any work?" One can only hope that NZ Journalists are finally showing some gametes.
Marama, maybe you're the (emergency housing) problem.
Update: The transfer of my blog took out all the ā s from the words Pākehā & Māori. They’ve now been added back.
