We certainly should be careful with taking any kind of supplements, and thoroughly research the supplement *and* the manufacturer. Most of us are deficient in Magnesium and I agree with another comment that mentioned finding foods that are high in Magnesium over taking a pill or capsule. The nice thing about supplements (assuming they contain what they are supposed to) is it is nearly impossible to harm oneself with them unless we really go overboard. Sorry you had that horrible experience Richard.
Medicine lady claims otherwise. We are not deficient in Magnesium because it is highly volatile in the form of pills or capsules (as per my blog post on it) and is not something that is natural in the human system. I now know what it does in my mouth and throat and will not be sending any of it to other parts of my body to do the same thing.
Yes I get plenty of those foods so I guess my supply is fine. But medicine lady says that the magnesium supposedly absorbed by plants is converted anyway so is not the same as the stuff that burnt the back of my throat and caused my breathing issues.
If in a state of ill being we can do tests ( there are symptoms for too low mag which again is due to underlying nutritional deficiencys/health issues).
2025 wisdom (even in the alternative field) is also often lacking as they also like selling $hit.
But if I had to say one thing on the matter it would be the stupidity of modern medicine to stick its head up its own ass and completely ignore nutrition , what people fuel the body with. Its just bizarre.
instead we have
Big pharma Pez drug dispensing in the profitable insurance model of sickness.
Label the symptom holding it in place, drug the symptom, make new symptoms drug them, call it "symptom management"( "healthcare" /s)
(Along with ignoring the mind food.)
Consuming the toxic media propaganda also causes ill being. Spews.
I don't think anybody will ever be able to convince me to go near magnesium ever again. The first time I thought maybe it was the silica binding but I doubt that now. I figure it's the magnesium itself.
For me the solution above proves itself in positive results. With only a small amount of 5ml my joints and lower back pain are no longer an issue. The amount is critical though, and the symptoms of burning at the back of the throat can happen and also loose stools with the wrong amount! Of too much. So start small and take time for the positive changes may take up to 3 months.
Also, with the wrong amount the balance between magnesium and calcium changes the muscle tone. And so with the wrong ratio the muscle goes soft with too much magnesium.
Maybe because my solution is simple water, and is very easy to absorb is the difference. Plus, it’s easy to dilute and if taken with food it digest very easy.
Funny how many of the truth seekers around these parts are so invested in Magnesium. Can you tell me other things that you believe in? It might be helpful for future blog posts.
I have been taking Mag Citrate caps for over ten years. never noticed any problem.
MAGNESIUM CITRATE
PLANT CELLULOSE (THE CAPSULE)
ORGANIC RICE CONCENTRATE
Your post makes me question your ability to discern.
What other errors do you put forth?
Should I continue to trust anything you say?
Thats what posts like this make me think.
PS... I skimmed her article, I don't buy all her thoughts either. I had a slot car with a magnesium frame 60 years ago. She says it does not exist on it own. So.... I'll trust my gut. You trust yours.
I decided when the capsule came apart as it came back up my throat and the resulting difficulty in breathing as well as the burning back of the throat that Magnesium was not worth the risk. You do you. I figure the medicine lady is on the right track though.

I cant take mag sups, too strong, it does effect my heart (I have both tachycardia and bradycardia) and complex medical conditions
"Let food be your medicine"

My favorite source... dark chocolate
Beans, peas, soy products (tofu).
Almonds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds.
Brown rice, millet.
Avocados, bananas, dried apricots

Yeah your mag supply probably was ok.

Look at making your own solution.
Magnesium chloride hydrated with distilled water that has aged for about twelve hours.
50 grams magnesium with 500 ml water. Is a good ratio.
Water needs to be about sixty Celsius or more to get the hydrated flakes to re- hydrate.
Once cooled to ambient room temp it’s ready.
Be careful of the amount and start with a small amount of perhaps 5ml dilute with water and eat something with it.

Every one is unique in their needs.

Time of day is a factor, 9pm helps me sleep.
I recommend doing WAY MORE research before ingesting anything in pill form, including the company and the listed ingredients.
As for your advice, not useful, and actively harmful to anyone uninformed enough to take it.
You have no clue whatsoever...

Interesting... I have been taking magnesium gycinate, in capsule form, and the list of ingredients are:
Magnesium glycinate
Organic ginger root
Organic turmeric rhisome
Cellulose
Vegetarian capsule (cellulose, water)

Thus far, I have had no issues. [shrug]
