I should have noted that in the article that I linked that Philip specifically refers to "Although the likes of the science-denying anti-vax movement has its right to free speech, the likes of this newspaper does not have to be its vehicle." in this September 2019 article of his. Which is about the vainest bastard in Dunedin (himself).

More with the mask insanity. Um... if the mask works and someone is wearing one, aren't they "safe" from a scary scary scary virus? This issue is still a hot button for me. It's like everything else surrounding the last 3 years... if someone feels like what they do for their health works for them, more power to them. Otherwise, leave other people in peace. I'm so sick of this madness. I don't envy your choice Rich. I think I'd march in without a mask and a copy of the numerous studies that prove they do *not* stop respiratory "viruses". Ugh.

He is adamant. You have to pick your battles. You need to be heard.

Consider pulling the mask slightly down under your nose. That means

you haven't really complied.

Hopefully, you can send us a photo of you with the mask on - seeing is believing.

I'm still considering what is the best course of action. But wearing a mask on his demands is not on the agenda.

I think Philip is making it clear that the most important person in the room is not the future Mayor or councilors but himself. Strange that he has not put himself up for the role.

He has no right to force me out of the meeting if I don't have a mask and this is as clear as day in the NZ Bill of Rights which some Labour MP 30 years ago seems to have seen a use for at sometime in the future. I guess they saw the fascists coming. I also do not need to tell Philip why I'm exempt. It will be him breaking the law not me if I decide to go by your suggestion and he tries to bar entry to me.

I think you have properly assessed this situation.

Having to run the gauntlet of technocratic tyranny is bad enough, having to comply with religious tyranny is beyond the pale. As always, the burden of proof falls to the person asserting a truth claim (in this case that masks are protective). When he fails that test, he might be able to negotiate a more reasonable solution. In the end, walking away may be the only option, though. Still, he'll know what you stand for.

Of course it is. No it's not. And let me think about it. I've just had my invitation withdrawn by the chief fascist.

I assume that you mean that it's away from its environment. No longer part of a system but under an electron microscope with various additives added.
