It can be a bit hard to discern though where the line is. My cousins for example could say that they were Maori. But they look as Pakeha as I do. Are my other cousins who have a Fijian background Pakeha? (i.e. most people would assume that they were Maori).
Kinda like haole in Hawaii- floating term since "Portagee" aren't haole, even though fair skinned, while black Americans can be. Depends on how long you've been on the islands.
