In the community there is some support. I have also zoomed with a manager on DCC but he only really gave generic advice. 'Set up your own firm and tender for contracts' etc. Generally I'm offside with the upper levels of Council though due to their lockdown policies, their inability to answer emails (which even extends to people that I know - the Council's policy is not to answer the public's emails). I'm almost certain that I'm blacklisted by Council's upper management. And by others in town.
From the likes of Aaron & co just derision. Steve Walker, Labour Councillor is the best of them but has bought into every Labour Party policy of the last few years and seems to be ignoring me at the moment when we run into each other. He has hopped on a ebike recently & he lives in Port Chalmers so that's a reasonable sign. His Labour affiliation is the problem. And everyone at meetings so far has pointed out that he's just not turning up to them. He wasn't at the Uni one that I went to.
They want Aaron in again even though he's definitely not a leader and Sophie who is the the next most favoured is a trainwreck.
I will start applying for cycling infrastructure roles elsewhere in the next few days. Dunedin is not worth my effort under Aaron's "leadership". It would be better I think if Lee won, I could see myself getting a role on the infrastructure in that case.
The Green MPs here have been tweeting things like 'uterus havers' (for women) and TERFs (derogatory term for women mostly but I've scored it often as well) at everyone for a few years now. I've noticed the Oz Greens going down that route as well. Absolute shambles and I've been offside with Aaron since the 2019 Mayoral campaign (my first go) when I discovered what an idiot he is.
I can really understand why Lee Vandervis is so pissed off with them all.
Oh and I ran into the Labour candidate for ORC yesterday. He said that all MPs must maintain absolute allegiance to the Party. He dissed Sharma who's just been kicked out and was wont to put his hand on my shoulder or arm as he needed to keep talking and it wasn't my place to join in. Needless to say I wasn't impressed.
Is there anyone in the present council, or anyone with some clout in the community who shares your vision of the return of Trams and Bicycles?
What sort of feedback do you get when you speak about it?
