Last year in November this is what Sally Capp (ineffective Mayor) and Daniel Andrews (genocidal maniac) promised for Melbourne on the back of a whopping 44 million dollars (sarcasm).

This is the propaganda from The Age from a few days ago. “Melbourne fills with hope - and People..”

Let’s have a look at Melbourne filled with hope and people. From the traffic count on the south side of the Bourke Street Mall the main shopping centre of the Melbourne CBD with Myers and David Jones dominating the retail space there. But Melbourne is also a city of cafes and small shops. They need foot traffic. Like this;

2014 had 4,094 pedestrians in the hourly count at 1pm.

2017 had 3,702 pedestrians in the hourly count at 1pm.

2020, just before the insane lockdowns that have robbed Melbourne of its CBD, had 3,250 pedestrians in the hourly count at 1pm.

So you’ve got the picture now, anywhere between 3,250 and 4,094 pedestrians in the hourly count at 1pm. Very consistent over decades, a foot traffic that meant that the Melbourne CBD really was quite dynamic, with lots of wonderful cafes, many specialist retailers and the behomeths of David Jones and Myers to satisfy anyone’s need for a department store. What about this year you ask? Well I think you already know right?

Yep really dynamic. A whopping 1,055 pedestrians in the hourly count at 1pm.

Fuck you Dan Andrews.
