Dunny Council (like all NZ govt local councils) have done nothing but fleece the ratepayers deserve a no star rating( just got my rates bill today... sicked up a bit in my mouth).

You know George C quote " If voting did anything they wouldnt let us do it"

"He who counts the vote counts"

People de registering their vote would be one solution. As you know what register means( blacks law)if you have registered your vote with the Govt you have given them partial ownership/control over it.

Before they get their plan to have kids( 16) that are totally brainwashed believers in to vote for them.

Yeah agree with most of that. Not sure what the 'blacks law' is exactly but I can kind of guess what it is.

I should add getting you in govt would be great.

Sorry I'm P.S (politically skeptic) .

We have been conditioned to do the same thing over and over( to vote for govt ) and yet we expect a different result.

This cannot happen when we have an central bankster economic and political ( follow the money) monopoly.

People dont know what having their vote registered with the Bank of England's Crown NZ govt(that is a corporation) means (nor do people know about the legal system and that its not the same as the law) .

I wish you luck . I have forwarded a link to you blog page to a like minded friend David Tranter (X politico and still a health advocate in OZ )to see if he can help.

Thanks. David's name is vaguely familiar for some reason. Is he in Melbourne by any chance?

I have experience running a local political campaign in San Francisco on $500. We lost. However we lost by about $50,000 pumped into the race for the Community College Board of Trustees. The person winning had endorsement of major political figures and was an incumbent.

I managed to get for my wife's candidacy 16,000 votes less than the winner. Considering obstacles I was pleased.

It's certainly a tall task here as well. Aaron Hawkins is the incumbent and he has the resources of the Green Party behind him who are far too woke for anybody's good. He's also, unless someone else turns up, the Dunedin establishment's choice. And then Lee Vandervis normally takes the protest vote, which in a first past the post system would have made him Mayor several times (we have an STV system which is opaque and took ~10 winds last election to put Aaron in front).

And I'd kind of think my wife would have a better chance than me as she is a manager in a large retailer (hence more people know her) here but she's not a citizen so can't stand (and possibly doesn't want to).

There are several low cost methods which may work. Absentee ballot party.

Mockery of opposition-one of my favorites. Door to door canvassing.

So I'm assuming that you're claiming all the non-voters. Of course if you can do that it's a sure fire way of winning here in Dunedin. I think voting % was under 40% last time. But problematic I'd guess.

Where do you draw the line for "Southern".

Best wishes for the upcoming battle.

Southern is anywhere south of the North Pole when it comes down to it.

I guess it means different things for different people. Not sure that it would go down well in Lincolnshire.

Are you running for councillor too?

Is the *North* Island also the *Southern* island.

Southern Hemisphere. Southern Pacific.

But the South Island gets pretty short shift on the national politics stage. So of course that's an appeal here. And I don't see why we can't run more independently from Wellington. But I also grew up in the North Island and all my family are there (although grandparents are mostly buried in Christchurch).

I saw four fellow candidates yesterday, even Aaron was out and about in Dunedin. That's more than I've seen in the past 3 years almost. Where have they been hiding?

I suspect that I'll see more of them at the farmers market over the next few months, having seen Steve there a few times lately.

I wish that Wellington could run independently of Wellington.

The Labour and Greens councillors are wreckers.

Rich ‘has lived in Dunedin since ...... ‘ sounds good to me but sorry I can’t offer advice on the political scene. Good luck anyway. It sounds as if good people are needed over there.

Thanks. I ran last time, 13/14 for Mayor and about 25/37 for Council so I don't currently rate my chances highly. But I am going to attempt to turn that around.
