Back when cards came out, the only reason why I used cash is that many places refused it for amounts below $15-20. I understand why back then, the card companies charged a fixed fee that made small purchases unprofitable.
But now, being able to use a card or a swipe to pay for things will only attract more users.
The only time that this cashless thing will make people wake up is when they start to controlling it.
Going cash only is noble, but it won't stop the natural slope into that tech future.
What we can do is teach people that they shouldn't buy things in debt if they don't need it.
And then, those people might realize that they are in not so great economic circumstances. And then they may look into why and how....
The seed of truth sprouts in the soil of humankind!

The culture of fear.
An economic change on top of the banksters debt blow out and contraction of the economy .
Up to 30% on the lies paper carries on it an imaginary threat and its " only used by money launderers"
The younger gen has been mind conditioned for some time to use plastic.
On the topic of culture I would be happy to scrap it as its only a set of beliefs( many very limiting) .
Used to create a set of social rules for control where fear of not being normal is a kingpin.
The beliefs are insane .
For Maori warring, cannibalism and slavery use to be a cultural thing. Now its been distorted and for some its culture is waka, language( *made up by others) owning land and getting Crown payouts.
Who would want a culture when it comes from collective insanity.
EG imprisoning ourselves at the beck and call of the govt. Social distancing, isolating, seeing each other as a threat being made to feel guilty for our skin colour and govts colonialism... all totally mad ideas.
I say we ditch culture( the past) and start a love revolution, because fear ( and the beliefs/culture it brings)didnt work.
I have a hunch based on a rich culture in a subsistence hunting, fishing and some agriculture (i.e. it doesn't make sense) setting that European explorers and early Maori are a little more closely related than so far given credit for.
Also on your second point the culture of taking a covid test to get 7 days off is now firmly planted, why the hell would anyone want to build such a culture.
Not just BC. I have serious questions about Napoleon as well. And the European middle ages. And NZ history is starting to interest me, I doubt that the current version dates to the 15th C, I think it's later. Just a hunch, based on some maps that I've seen of settlement patterns, right now. And the rather odd fact that Maori women are from Taiwan and Maori men are from where? DNA points to Europe.
For sure there is very little truth in the historical record where ever you are.
At Home Depot they are going to self check out. They have around 12, but only one for cash. I use that one. I asked the woke, masked up, purple dreadlocks attendant why they don't have more cash. His response, "Because cash is dirty that's why." I inserted a very crisp, clean $100.00 bill. The push to remove cash is on.
Asians seem more likely to wear them as well. But if you're of a European background and you're still wearing them I doubt that you vote National or Liberal (Oz) or Conservative.

Also we need to stop letting the media set our culture. Culture sets the tone for technology.
Let’s look at a quick example: In the late 1800s the culture changed from one of the “Wild West” to one of “cleanliness is next to godliness.” Once that culture changed, technology followed. Arguably some of the best inventions of all time came from this culture change - sewers, waste removal, and running water.
We need to control our culture first. We think a #TransparencyMovement and Decentralization movement are the way to go forward like we wrote about
Canadian, I was a pre Covid adopter of convenient smartphone payments. Now it’s cash only outside of my business transactions. But there’s hardly any cash payments that I see, just more ‘tapping’ and self checkouts everywhere
I don't even take my phone out with me anymore. Melbourne is more into the digital payments than Dunedin is and that itself is a reversal of a few years ago.
Up market hand bag and accessories shop owner said, when I bought a hand bag last week, that they have lots of cash sales.
The lack of traceability can suit a wife.
Or a husband on occasion.
Maybe in a different shop.
But men are not devious.
I can't vouch for the species. But I guess I'm not. Maybe I should be.

Who is in great economic circumstances? If Bill Gates was forced to sell all of this shares would he even be solvent?
I suspect there's a few who have plenty of money and no debt but I figure they're few and far between.
Billy has lots of land.
Cindy might have sold him the SI.
possession is ownership.
Yes, you would think they'd be fighting every bit of excessive control from the govt', medical community, big pharma - unreal

Warring, cannibalism and slavery seem to be on trend in the US.
You might need to work on your manifesto BDB.
There is a vacuum to fill.
A way to have a council working for the citizens.
Funny but I am newly on a residents' committee and I am feeling my own self -created pressure to not just look at things from my point of view.
I can't go around moaning either.
Edit: some people are being nice to me because they want their problems to be my problems.

This is tying in in a general way with Naked Emperor's post.
Unfortunately for paying subscribers, about civilization past and how it maybe big time different to what we learnt in school.
As I commented to NE, I am glad of a respite from thinking about the scamdemic.
Richard, you have an interest in looking differently at long held beliefs about BC days (LOL, not B C before Covid, in this case.).
Not just BC. I have serious questions about Napoleon as well. And the European middle ages. Have taken out a trial on Naked's newsletter. It's a bit light in my view.
I took a year's subscription in error, I had just meant to gift myself a month, but it's occasionally good.

That's clever of course - the might catch Covid from cash angle.
Why does everything get to have a TPTB angle.
Right. Let’s try flipping it for a couple thousand years
I love it - I'm sure his ugly purple dreadlocks are not setting the standard for cleanliness either .. lol -We have to keep fighting back
It's noticeable here too how often the few remaining maskers are 'counter culture' types.
Not counter culture types at all from where I am viewing.
Families, oldies, and just regular types. Not seeing any masked yoga pants types.
At an international airport a few days ago the only ones wearing masks were a tie dyed outfit.
Asians seem more likely to wear them as well. But if you're of a European background and you're still wearing them I doubt that you vote National or Liberal (Oz) or Conservative.
The leftists have been conned bigly.

Matthew Crawford is great on this issue...and how the blockchain solves this...
I might disagree with Matthew on that one.
I hear that there are clearing sale bargains of crypto to be had. Or was that last week.
Some shop landlords in Melbourne are thinking that everything is back to 2013.
Probably😂but it would be interesting!!
We have noticed a trend going back towards cash now with the threat of CBDCs becoming more and more pressing.
But for the last decade it was opposite.
Use cash!
No one around here seems aware of any threat.
Some say that CBDC will stop the gangs whom the guvmint has been kind to.

Yep, that plandemic was smart.
AI deserves credit, can't argue with it.
Cash might have germs.
And as you say Richard, cash can lead to fingers in the till.
Around here people don't bother picking up coins on the street.
I do for gold coins. lol.
Cash always leads to hands in the till. Every time. But Afterpay charges 6%. Which is a bigger shrinkage than any hands in the till should be.
So you can just imagine what Visa & Mastercard are going to do once they have a monopoly.
