We've become too sophisticated to be happy with mutton, spuds and cabbage.
The "global warming" blame/shame game is a hoax to fit us into the *useless eaters* category and has been used to justify the democide. That people are the enemy and must be Dalek-like "exterminated".
I suggest concentrating on eating healthily, local fruit, veg, grains, meat, etc, but a bit of exotica in importing the stuff that is the spice of life that we can't grow here.
I can't see why NZ has to be totally self sufficient, and I don't agree with tariffs to protect inefficient NZ producers.
This gives us food for thought. Is there a wheat crop farmed in the Sth Island? If so, what is its production? Wheat needs 31 to 38 centimeters of water to produce a good crop . It grows best when temperatures are warm, from (21° to 24° C), but not too hot. It is a winter crop in Australia.
